Solo Dance Entry form
All students are taking part in the GROUP/ TEAM DANCE - which is a piece choreographed by the teacher and taught in class. There is no entry fee for this.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in the SOLO DANCE CATEGORY.
This is open to Modern, Hip Hop & Ballet students.
How does it work ?
Students are given a number on the day and there are usual 8-10 dancers on the dance floor at that same time dancing to the music. After all the competitors have danced once, the judges recall some numbers to dance again. Eventually the judges will have narrowed down their selection and there will be awards for the final top 10.

Junior 1
We always encourage our Junior Level 1 dancers to treat this as a game of musical statues. The idea is just to encourage the students to express and enjoy themselves through dance, showing off their dance moves to a piece of music. We usually play a little bit of the song and stop it just like in a game.

Junior 2
At this age, some children will make up and memorize their own routine while others will just make it up on the spot - again there is no right or wrong way to do this : it’s just about expressing yourself through dance.

Intermediate students

Intermediate students also have the option to enter another category :
DUO/TRIO (a group of 2 or 3 dancers)

This routine needs to be pre learnt and cannot be improvised on the day.
There will be awards for 1-7th Place in this category.
Senior / Teen
These students will perform their own solo dance to their own choice of song/ dance genre (minimum 30seconds -max 45 seconds)
There are 2 age groups for teens
- 15 years and under
- 16 years and over
There will be awards for 1-10th place .
The Senior student who places 1st in their solo dance category will also win a free term of dance for term 2.
There is an entry fee of €8 for solo competitors (junior 1 / 2 & Intermediate)
Senior / Teen solo is €10
Duo/ Trio €6 per person (€12 for a duo , €18 for a trio)
(There is an additional €1 credit card booking fee when paying online).
Cash can be brought to class but MUST be in an envelope with your child’s name, dance class time and day.
